Eastside Meals on Wheels is a local independent non-profit. Every week day we serve nutritious hot meals to seniors and those with disabilities in NE and SE Minneapolis, as well as, St. Anthony Village. A major portion of our income comes from individual and businesses donations and grants. We rely on nearly 300 volunteers to deliver over 28,000 meals each year. Volunteer drivers take an hour to deliver meals at noon to a small number of recipients on a schedule that works for them—weekly, monthly, on-call, etc. Other volunteers help on various projects and committees including fund raising, promotion, event planning, finance and board of directors.
Our meal delivery and other community services make it possible for individuals to stay in their own homes longer without the trauma and significant cost of nursing home care. And of course in many cases the federal government would pay thousands of dollars per month for that nursing home care. Have you heard anyone say “I’d rather go to a nursing home than stay in my own home?”
If you know someone who might be interested now or in the future in receiving meals, you can learn more on the Get A Meal Page. There is no long term commitment and they can try it for a few days and cancel or change the schedule at any time. Feel free to contact our office at (612) 277-2529 If you have any questions.
If you are interested in volunteering, go to the Volunteer Page to find more information on the opportunities to serve your community. You might have a specific talent to offer or maybe you’d like to be a driver. You can ride along with someone who may have been driving for years to learn the ropes before you decide. The rewards you receive from grateful recipients are priceless.

Introducing a NEW Caterer!
We’re excited to partner with a new caterer. The Kitchen of Opportunity was formed to serve Metro area Meals on Wheels Programs and so they know the specific nutritional needs of our clients.
Our delicious meals are prepared fresh by the nutrition crew at The Kitchen of Opportunity, then heated and delivered to you by our program. The meals are a good value, nutritious, fresh, local, chef-driven and very tasty.
In addition to serving our current isolated and homebound clients, our meal service is now attracting active seniors on the go that would prefer not to cook their own meals. Give us a try!
Meals will not be delivered on the following dates in 2018:
January 1 and 15
November 22 and 23
December 22, 25 and 31
